| Opportunities 1994 - 1998 |
At a time of changing technologies
Bell Atlantic / Verizon invested in expanding the horizons a few of their
employees. My part in regard to the new
tech and governmental style entities that were locating to the Clarksburg
- Morgantown, WV
I-79 Tech corridor: The area of ordained growth.
I would spend evenings studying and locating further reference
materials, pushing myself even further at home with 36 hour weekends whereas
hours pass as minutes.
A Non-Listed PHD would
inform me that I had broken then Industry records.

A later position in Verizon
IT Special Services afforded
educational pursuits at
Learning Tree
International and
Telcordia
Technologies (Eriksson) Attending branch locations in the
cities of Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, Rockville
and Silver
Springs Maryland, Reston
Virginia, Lisle Illinois, Washington DC and Toronto Canada.
Some illustrations of the
times,
A student at the Reston Town Center stating it was an exciting time and
great things were coming out of of West Virginia.
I
would
also be asked to
address other class members
(sometimes desperate) questions concerning business aspects relative to the then burgeoning Internet.
In Canada,
I would be informed that I was in the the top 4% in the world
within my field/s.
Hughes Networks would send a large portfolio to my home.
Informed
I was one of the most credentialed persons within Bell Atlantic
/ Verizon.
At Tysons Corner, a
man innocuously stress tests me, stating
he never had encountered someone like me, before
as he kept
throwing out salaries. Stating he had clients that wanted me
yesterday, whereas I later wondered if such had really been a chance encounter
at all.

| One
illustration centering around President
Clinton's May 22, 1997 visit to West
Virginia. Wheras, major and regional
news networks, politicians and others
were present and with my
telecommunications job finished it was
time to take it in, but not so as a
frantic phone call came in at an
abandoned station where the President
would then look over at me after someone
remarked this was the first Internet
Broadcast of a Presidential Town Hall
Meeting. The first what?
I was thrust into the moment and was absolutely alone, but not for long;
A lovely ABC
News Correspondent takes note and plants herself
directly next to me and never leave my prescence. |
The President mentioned AL Gore using
email as an example of the Whaite House's use of then Interent
whereas once the Town Hall ended the news media aggressively shifted
their attention to me for more pushing their
microphones ever closer, trying to get ahead of one another. My chair
tips backwards and I wave them off. However,
one lone newscaster stays and civilly asks if the Video Conferencing Equipment
was the Internet? After informing her it wasn't she then asks if she could use
it as an example of the Internet and does so, It
was just the times of something excitedly new to
many.

| A
Fulfilling Time & Decisions |
| |
 |
|
A fulfilling where I
experimented with "Talking over the
Internet." Choppy, walkie-talkie quality
communications that was later referred to as VOIP.
In any regard, Bell / Verizon aggressively turned their
technological innovations away from West
Virginia to more lucrative markets. To stay
relevant, I was told that I would have to move from West Virginia,
for if I didn't my
background would fade, become outdated and forgotten. We stayed. |
|
My wife and I would create a
Website at a time when
the Internet of "everyday life" was still far
off. She incorporating new processes that would
allow her products to arrive in the customer's
hands by the next day or the day after. Unheard
of concepts that other companies were driven mad
over. This cannot be! Calls coming in
wanting our company, then me. If they could've reached
through the phone they would have. A Venture
Capitalist Firm wanting to
purchase it, but it was my wife's
endeavor and it brought
her joy, so I turned them down.

Valerie Lacaria took home the First Place in their division at the All-Chrysler
Nationals held in Carlisle PA July 8-10. All at Grundy wish to congratulate them
and their stunning 1972 AMC Javelin for achieving such a great accomplishment.
The Lacaria's are not exactly new to winning awards. Their 1956 Chrysler
Imperial won the same award at the 2003 Carlisle All-Chrysler Nationals and was
invited back to the "Survivors Area" of the Nationals in 2004 & 2005. The
"Survivors Area" is the best in the Nation of un-restored original
automobiles..... For additional information on the Carlisle All-Chrysler
Nationals, please visit the Carlisle Events at

A host of West Virginia
citizens assisted a foreign
couple in distress, who
had a car like our
1956 Imperial
where I was called for help. All of
which, led to a friendships and
incomprehensible American and
European Excursions and
Adventures to come.
In
addition to our new friends, a few
others stick out. A Vatican historian and lexicon of
knowledge. A
philanthropist of continual motion, who would pen historical
volumes and take the proceeds to purchase
supplies for the poor and then
accompany the supplies to their
designated locations to cut out
corruption. He challenging anyone's perspective of
life, death and the meaning of it
all. A great collector of postage
stamps, he'd be
honored with his own image on an
Austrian Postage Stamp.
We were taken to places few
Americans had been before. We also
entering an
American Flagged 1959 Imperial in
Eger Hungary's
International land rally where it
was judge superior to a
Russian-era luxury
sedan parked next to us.
All in all, very
successful excursions, as shared in the
sentiments below...
"They want to know
when the Americans
are coming back"
"I would have to
make a list of the
people who send
their regards"
"They were pleased
by the respect shown
towards the historic
and cultural aspects
of their country"
"You have
represented your
country well; You
are from America, so
they love America"
"To think
Americans, Germans,
Hungarians and
Romanians all at one
table"
"Hello, Valerie,
hello, Anthony and
family...We have
received the package
.... It is a
miraculous
recollection of a
wonderful holiday
with you…"
"I was surprised to
come across your
painstaking
preparation of Hungarian
Goulash and thought
that your German
friends might like
to know about my new
book on the famous
Hungarian dessert
wine...The title is
'Tokajiine - Fame,
Fate, Wine..."
